[In the Media] Interview Article on HGPI’s Planetary Health Project (The Japan Times, March 23, 2026)

An interview article featuring Mr. Ryoji Noritake, Chair of Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI), was published in Sustainable Japan by The Japan Times.

Following HGPI received the ESG Special Award at the “Sustainable Japan Award 2025,” this feature article delves into the specific initiatives and future outlook of HGPI’s “Planetary Health Project.”

In the interview, Mr. Noritake highlighted the critical importance of advancing the concept of “Planetary Health” in Japan,recognizing the interconnectedness of human health and the health of the planet. He also discussed measures to address the environmental footprint of the healthcare sector itself and explained HGPI’s three-stage policy development process: agenda-setting, agenda-shaping, and agenda-delivery. The article further covered key milestones such as HGPI’s efforts to integrate planetary health into nursing education, its global collaboration through international networks such as the Alliance for Transformative Action on Climate and Health (ATACH) and Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH), and its vision leading up to the Planetary Health Alliance Annual Meeting (PHAM2027) to be held in Tokyo in 2027.
